Functional basic education of Roma

Belgrade, January – May 2006 The project Functional basic education of Roma 2006-2007. has come into the stage of realization. It means that cities have been chosen in which the project will be implemented and also the schools for adult education which will participate in this project. After that, the following project activities have been undertaken:

• project presentation in all cities and schools
• selection of Roma coordinators form Roma NGOs
• training for basic school teachers and Roma coordinators about motivating Roma people to enter the basic education
• constitution of project support teams which are consisted of representatives of local community, local labor market and Roma NGOs in all cities
• analysis of labor market needs for trainings
• constitution of curriculum development teams for basic education
• constitution of program development teams for vocational qualification

According to analysis results of local labor market needs the project team has developed programs for vocational trainings for following positions: baker, butcher, waiter, cook, tailor, hairdresser, manicurist, pedicurist, painter, ceramist, mechanic, upholsterer.
