International Conference: “Lifelong Learning and Adult Education – key factors for economic and social regeneration in South Eastern Europe”

On September 20th 2006, the International Conference: “Lifelong Learning and Adult Education – key factors for economic and social regeneration in South Eastern Europe“, took place in the hotel „Holiday Inn“ in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in organisation of the Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association (IIZ/DVV), regional Office in Sofia and Office in Sarajevo, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the OSCE Mission to BiH. The main aim of the Conference was to discuss the meaning of Adult Education in the peaceful development in the region of South Eastern Europe on one side, and to make up the balance about what was achieved in this area in the last decade, on the other side. The goal was also to discuss the future steps in the area of adult education in the countries in the region on their ways to Europe.  Conference was also related to the Lifelong Learning Festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Conference participants had the opportunity to visit the festive opening of the Festival. The Education Ministers from the countries of South Eastern Europe, Heads of the IIZ/DVV Project Offices from this region, representative of partner organizations and experts in the field of Adult Education and Lifelong Learning participated in the Conference. Delegation of Serbia and delegation of Montenegro consisted of high representatives of the Ministry of Education, experts and associates from partner organizations of the Adult Education Society.
