Seminar „The Balkans Between Stigmatization and European Integration“

Between the June 09th – 12th 2005. the IIZ/DVV project office Sofia arranged the seminar „The Balkans Between Stigmatization and European Integration“, in Bankia, Bulgaria. The seminar, which was first of all targeted at history teachers, gathered participants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Macedonia, Norway, Romania and Serbia and Montenegro. The seminar was concerned with the EU enlargement process, the future development of the EU and the integration of the Balkans in the EU. Further it was tried to define which countries constitute the Balkans and to assess how these countries are reviewed by the EU. From Serbia and Montenegro participated Ivana Dobrivojević (Institute of Contemporary History, Belgrade), Vladislav Koprivica (Vocational Education and Training Center, Podgorica) and Jens Peder Lomsdalen (Adult Education Society).
