Trilateral partnership meeting of the PEFETE-project

Athens,  March 2005. The trilateral partnership meeting that took place in Athens, from March 17th – 18th 2005. was organized in the framework of the PEFETE project. The PEFETE project is financed by the European Commission’s Grundtvig programme. Serbia, represented by the Adult Education Society and the Association for Senior Education, was included as a silent partner at the PEFETE project and became a member of one of the five PEFETE groups (Belgium-Latvia-Greece). The cooperation with other European countries is seen as a great opportunity for Serbia to exchange knowledge and methods on senior education and to develop new partnerships. Since senior citizens still represent a strongly disadvantaged population group in Serbia the participation in this forum is important for receive impulses for the implementation of European standards in senior education. Experts from Greece, Netherlands, Belgium, Latvia and Serbia participated at the meeting. During the meeting reports on the situation of senior education in Belgium, Greece, Latvia, Netherlands and Serbia were presented. Further the following main issues were covered: exploring the learner’s needs, interactive learning and involvement of senior citizens in educational activities.
