Employment measures for the rural population in East Serbia

Bor, JunePoseta zapadnoj Srbiji 2009. As part of the project “Employment Measures for the Marginal Groups” implementation in rural area of eastern Serbia, 41 persons from thirty households participated in training seminar on Village Tourism. The first part of this two-weekend training, took place in Brestovacka banja. Seminar was focus on designing a possible range of touristic activities in households and villages. The training was highly practical thus seminar was finished with a draft of Touristic Activities Catalog for the upcoming summer-autumn season. The “Association of Farmers in Village Tourism” will elaborate further details of Catalog with the local partners, and announce it. During the second weekend, participants visited good practice examples in western/central Serbia, where village tourism and tourism in general, are much more developed, and farmer associations are much more experienced. The visits in these households, which are involved in village tourism for several years, were very encouraging, but also were helpful to develop realistic expectations. The discussions and presentations in touristic organizations and farmer associations in Valjevo and Ljig provided invaluable information and encouraged experience exchange. The plan has been made for future cooperation, and joining of the Association in the “National Association for the Development of Village Tourism” was initiated.
