Bonn, June 2009. In Bonn, from June 23rd to 24th 2009. the international conference “Financing Adult Education for Development” was attended by over 200 guests from all over the world – representatives of relevant institutions, organizations, agencies, donors, foundations, banks, as well as decision-makers in the field of adult education, experts and practitioners. The conference was organized by dvv international in Bonn, as well as marking the 40 years of its work, in cooperation with: ICAE – International Council of Adult Education, EAEA – European Association for the Education of Adults, ASPBAE – Asian-South Pacific Bureau of Adult Education. The objectives of the conference were to: consider the possibility of supporting the development of adult education and the necessary financial mechanisms, analysis of the challenges that development policy poses for adult education, exchange of experiences and good practices, creating opportunities for networking and cooperation between educational work holders and donors. This important theme correlates with the interests and concerns of Serbia in the current phase of education reforms, particularly in education and adults. Therefore, dvv international supported the participation of Serbian representative at the conference – the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia (Mirjana Milanovic, Adviser for Adult Education in the Ministry) and the Adult Education Society (Katarina Popović). The knowledge gained at the conference, exchanged experiences and contacts will be a function of solving the key problems of the reform of adult education in Serbia, especially those related to finance.
