New legislation of the Serbian educational system Belgrade

Belgrade, June 2009. A discussion group at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade came together to discuss and debate a paper drafted by the Ministry concerning the new legislation of the education sector in Serbia. Also Ph.D. Katarina Popovic, the President of Adult Education Society and Prof. Ph.D. Miomir Despotovic attended this meeting in order to draw attention to the importance of the inclusion of Adult Education interests and issues in this draft. The Adult Education Society strives to actively shape the reforms of the legislations of the education system initiated by the government, in terms of Adult Education and Lifelong Learning. AES is actively involved in policy advisory activities in the context of the initiation and development of laws and legal frameworks such as this one. Adult Education and Lifelong Learning are now being discussed at ministerial level in Serbia. The recently adopted Action Plan in Adult Education makes, among other things, arrangements regarding the introduction of an Adult Education Act. The preparatory phase for this act will begin this month, in which also the project office will be significantly involved.
