Balkan Subregional Seminar on Planning for EFA

Becici, November 2005. Balkan Subregional Seminar on Planning for EFA was held in the Montenegro Stars Hotels in Becici (Montenegro, Serbia and Montenegro).
The Seminar was organized under the auspices of UNESCO and with participation of the officials in charge of national educational planning and policy development from the Balkan countries (Albania, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro). The aim of the Seminar was to facilitate among participating countries the exchange of their experience, issues and challenges they are facing in planning for education development and EFA, to discuss major steps and processes for preparing credible education plans and to define possible activities for cooperation between participating countries and with UNESCO. Also, the Seminar aimed to support Montenegro in its effort to initiate the process of creating a national strategy for EFA. The participants at the Seminar had the opportunity to exchange experiences of the reforms and activities in education in the Region, and the Montenegrin participants, on the basis of the inputs recieved by UNESCO, would plan the following steps for implementation of EFA in Montenegro. The Seminar resulted in recommendation to UNESCO asking for a technical support in planning for EFA. The Montenegrin group would prepare current and valid data necessary for planning and development of the national strategy by using the simulation model which was presented at the seminar. Prof. Ph.D. Snezana Medic presented the national reports on the Serbian systems of education, with a special emphasis on the development and current situation of the national EFA strategy.
