Belgrade, October 2012. Fourth Andragogical Regional Academy was held in Belgrade from 18. until 20. October 2012, in Palace Hotel in Belgrade. Event was organized by Adult Education Society in cooperation with dvv international. The training was intended for professionals who work in the field of adult education. Trainer experts on the fourth meeting of professionals in adult education were Svetlana Živanić from Republic Agency for Social Work and Tamara Nikolić Maksić from the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. During two-day training on topic “Education of elderly”, participants had the opportunity to improve their knowledge regarding aims and functions of education for elderly, sociological and psychological characteristics of elderly relevant in the context of adult education, and didactic – methodical approaches in educational activities with older people. After the training, participants are enabled to design educational programmes in order to meet the needs of elderly, to apply techniques of successful communication with them and to plan educational activities in accordance with the characteristics of this target group. Training was very useful, according to the evaluation of participants, especially because of the innovative elements of the program, positive atmosphere, sharing knowledge and experience among participants. European year of aging and intergenerational solidarity, demographic trends in the countries of SEE region, the needs and responsibilities of institutions and individuals for the better cooperation in creationg equal opportunities for elderly, were some of the topics discussed on the ARA IV in Belgrade.
